Syllabus

The purpose of these ongoing courses is to help everyone gain a shared baseline of IT knowledge and terminology. For some it will help fill in some gaps, for others it will introduce new information, and for everyone it will be interesting and useful.

When presented, these courses will progress at a comfortable pace for the group. There is no rush, and there will be lots of time for Q&A and discussion.

Everything we do revolves around 'service', and in our case IT service is accomplished by first acquiring knowledge and skills, and then applying them for the good of the kingdom and others.

As new people join, either the course will be repeated or special arrangements will be made.

All major sections will;

There will also be 'crossover'. Tech topics are most often closely related to other topics. So the relationships, inter-dependencies, and interoperability of many topics will be discussed as they arise. The goal is to expand and flesh-out our mental technology map - our view and understanding of the tools, techniques, procedures, and understanding of technology so that we can best apply our skills and knowledge.

Each session will be as hybred as possible - a combination of presentation material and lab work. Topics will be presented and to the degree reasonable, that topic will be demonstrated and then explored by each participant.

Every session will include something 'cool'. It may be a tool, command, technique, whatever. Something fun and interesting. It may be something from a topic we will cover in detail later, but in recipe form, it can be understood and used before getting to the nitty-gritty.

Technical Track

Many of these topics are still under development.
